Why do you love Richmond?

I have only been living in Richmond for a year (officially) this month. I am from upstate New York and I can honestly say, Richmond is unlike any place in this world. I love the culture in ever corner of the city, the vast majority and ever changing food scene and just the overall laid back vibes of Richmond.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Richmond?

I love going to the festivals (my favorite is the Que Pasa Festival), seeing live music (NO BS Brass all the way) and enjoying the nature and beauty of all the parks and trails.

What do you do here?

I am a passionate Spanish teacher in the Henrico county school district.

What’s your favorite restaurant?

Oh god ... That is too hard! I am obsessed with Kuba Kuba, love Starlight Diner and Sweet Teas catfish! Also, Mellow Mushroom always rocks! My boyfriend and I had our first date there! Also ... who could ever forget Proper Pie!?

What would you tell somebody who has never been to Richmond?

It is unlike any city you have ever been too! There is always something to do and see! The city has a culture of its very own and is a complete gem!

What's your favorite store?

I love the Goodwill in Carytown! I have gotten amazing finds there! A mini set of bongos for the boyfriend and even some cool blazers. I am also in love with Bygones and love the amazing vintage finds they have there! My boyfriend and I could also spend an entire day in Fan Ukelele and Guitar! 

How do you spend your free time?

I love relaxing and listening to records with the boyfriend, exploring new spots. We also love to go on picnics and just hangout with friends. Belle Isle is always a go to for us as well!

What's your favorite neighborhood?

All of them! I am a huge fan of Shockoe Bottom and the rawness there. I love the Fan too!

How do you describe your community?

Welcoming, blooming and always changing!

Anything else you would like to add?

Everyday I spend here I fall in love with RVA! I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!
