Jewelry That's Perfectly Queer

Fragment Jewelry Company is a small polymer clay jewelry business created by Sarah Shultz.

After majoring in jewelry design while in college, she put the craft on the back-burner once she became busy with photography and her 9-to-5 job. With more free time once the pandemic hit, she began making pieces for herself, followed by friends, commissions, and other custom work.

Her partner ended up pushing her to begin selling things, and her business has continued to blossom since. Sarah makes polymer clay jewelry for everyone using a small-batch method, which involves her making pieces as she wants too without a specific plan, or making a small collection of things and then moving on.

She feels it is important to provide queer representation in the maker community because “it creates a self and welcoming space for all LGBTQ people, which are already an underserved community. The more represented they are, the more fun and comfortable their shopping experience will be.”

Sarah finds the best parts about Richmond are undoubtedly the people and community. Born and raised here in RVA, some of her favorite things to do are skating and dining out. Creatively, she draws inspiration from everything, but particularly art and mid-century design.
