Rooted and Rising: BLK RVA Celebrates Richmond's Black History & Culture

Take a self guided tour through Jackson Ward, a historic neighborhood that pays homage to notable Black Richmonders (and those with direct ties to the area) like Abraham Skipwith, A.D. Price, Bill “Bojangles” Robinson, Charles Gilpin, Giles B. Jackson and more.

Richmond may be known for its award-winning restaurants, world-renowned beers, and lazy days at the river, but those are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all the River City has to offer.

Culturally, Richmond’s roots are largely intertwined with Black history and experiences. BLK RVA is a tourism campaign in partnership with Richmond Region Tourism dedicated to showcasing just how deeply those roots go and showing visitors how they can discover African American culture in RVA.

Through a multifaceted curated online guide, BLK RVA offers ways to plan your trip to Richmond- from getting here, places to stay, business to support, and more. They highlight Black-owned restaurants and stores like Soul Taco, Ruby Scoops, Rotate, The Spot, and many others. In addition to great eats and shopping, BLK RVA showcases local events like concerts, festivals, and cultural exhibits, as well as spotlighting community leaders. BLK RVA is a one-stop-shop for anyone looking to experience Black culture in Richmond.

From arts and culture, to nightlife and history, Richmond is the place to be and https://www.visitblkrva.com is a great place to start when planning your next visit.
