Why do you love Richmond?

I love Richmond's sense of community and home.  I left in 2011 to follow my dreams of making magic with a mouse and missed being in a city full of art, culture, and amazing food.  There's an amazing renaissance of food and art happening here that makes every meal and weekend exciting and new.

What’s your favorite thing to do in Richmond?

I love visiting the VMFA, going to festivals (Lord knows we have at least one a weekend), and discovering (or rediscovering) new places that connect me with this place.

What do you do here?

During the week, I'm an event producer; I get the chance to help make people's celebrations over the top and fantastic and I love it.  During the weekend, my fabulous alter ego Reann Ballslee can be found at Godfrey's Camp & Cocktail Saturday Brunch or performing at a charity show.  I'm also involved with TheatreLAB, Richmond's home for unexpected and evocative performance.

What’s your favorite restaurant?

I recently have become obsessed. with Pasture.  I love the light and low-key atmosphere, the fun spins on comfort food, and the amazing drinks.

What would you tell somebody who has never been to Richmond before?

I would tell them to be ready to be smacked in the face by amazing food and beautiful art.  But then I'd let them know we could put a cup of Bev's Ice Cream on the smack and it'd feel better.

What's your favorite store?

Orange in Carytown is the unofficial sponsor of the art in my living room.

How do you spend your free time?

As a way to reconnect with Richmond, I created a photo blog called RVA365.  It's allowed me to find details throughout the city (but mainly at the VMFA).

What's your favorite neighborhood?

I have a big crush on the Museum District.

How do you describe your community?

The Richmond community is full of love.  It's close-knit, but open to everyone.
