RTP SEASON CONTINUES WITH REGIONAL PREMIERE OF PAUL OAKLEY STOVALLāS COMEDY IMMEDIATE FAMILY
Richmond, VA ā Richmond Triangle Players continues its 33rd season as the longest-running LGBTQ+ theatre in the Mid-Atlantic region with Paul Oakley Stovallās acclaimed comedy Immediate Family, which will play at RTPās Robert, B. Moss Theatre from March 18 ā April 11, 2026. The production has been made possible in part through the generosity of Shirley Harrison.
A family of smart and successful siblings in Chicagoās Hyde Park neighborhood are gathering for a wedding. Prodigal son Jesse shows up with his new Swedish boyfriend and turns the family reunion into a family showdown. Evy canāt understand why her younger brothers are so mysterious and distant; Jesse is afraid to be true to himself and honest with his family; and no one can understand why Tony is so eager to get married. Modern Family meets Guess Whoās Coming to Dinner as these siblings try to bridge their differences with a little help from God, Red Whist card games and their Immediate Family.
RTPās production is directed by beloved RTP actor TeDarryl Perry, who just finished portraying Blanche Devereaux in Triangle Playersā smash-hit holiday production of The Golden Girls: The Lost Episodes (Holiday Edition). Theyāve also appeared on RTPās stage in Corpus Christi, one in two, The Inheritance and A Strange Loop.
āThe play is full of humor and heart, secrets and revelations,ā Perry says. āItās about the family we make, the family we break in, and the traditions we have. And really what happens when we are forced together with the people we say we hold dear!ā
The family featured in the play includes Daniel Daigle (RTPās Conversations with Mother), Ayana Flowers (Sugar in Our Wounds), Nora Ogunleye (5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche, Scrooge in Rouge), Todd Patterson (A Strange Loop), Jordan Pearson (Firehouse/RTPās Fat Ham), and Nia Simone (Virginia Repās A Christmas Carol).
