Curtain Up on Richmond’s Queer History! 🌈
Join us on Thursday, November 6th from 6:30–8:00 PM for an evening celebrating Richmond’s LGBTQ+ stories — from camp to community, theatre to history. 🎤
Teaching Professor Jay Watkins from the College of William & Mary will take you on a romp through some of the highlights of Richmond’s LGBTQ+ history. Jay’s research focuses on Southern LGBTQ+ history in theatre, bringing a vibrant perspective to the stories that have shaped queer life and community, including a look at the Triangle Theatre 🎭 and its role in shaping local queer art and culture.
Jay is also the author of Queer Virginia, which explores Richmond’s rich queer history and will be available for purchase at the event. 📚
We’ll also be raffling off a copy of Jay’s book and a $20 gift card, plus giving out free pride pins and temporary tattoos!
And don’t miss our special Pride Flight — a colorful lineup of meads complete with edible glitter for a little extra sparkle. ✨
Join us for an inspiring evening of history, storytelling, and community at The Hive! 💖
