OutRVA Advisory Committee Call for Members

To keep OutRVA rooted in community connection and collaboration, the Richmond Region Tourism Foundation (RRTF) is forming a regionally representative, volunteer-based OutRVA Advisory Committee. This committee will help guide the future of OutRVA by contributing to its strategic direction, providing insight on local campaigns, and promoting LGBTQIA+ tourism across the Richmond Region.

The committee will include five members who live or work within Richmond Region Tourism’s seven-jurisdiction service area. Members may serve up to two, two-year terms, with leadership provided by a Chair serving a two-year term.

Application Deadline: October 15, 2025
Selected Members Announced: November 1, 2025
Quarterly Meeting Schedule (virtual or in-person): January, April, July, and October (starting January 2026) 

Eligibility Requirements:

Applicants must:

  • Reside or work in one of the following areas: City of Richmond, City of Colonial Heights, Chesterfield County, Hanover County, Henrico County, New Kent County, or the Town of Ashland

  • Attend quarterly committee meetings (virtual or in-person)

  • Be willing to participate in public-facing activities, including community presentations, media interviews, and local events to help promote OutRVA 

Committee Responsibilities:

Members of the Advisory Committee will:

  • Attend one I Am Tourism (IAT) Ambassador Training hosted by Richmond Region Tourism

  • Review and offer feedback on campaign strategies from RRT and its contractors

  • Provide input on OutRVA’s strategic goals and future planning

  • Provide ideas for potential content for OutRVA's website and its social media channels

  • Support and engage in regional events and initiatives aligned with OutRVA’s mission

  • Participate actively in committee discussions and uphold shared decisions

  • Review and approve event sponsorship and grant applications for LGBTQIA+-owned businesses and organizations

  • Assist with outreach, tourism advocacy, and community representation

  • Evaluate and vote on new Advisory Committee member applications

  • Volunteer at a minimum of one to two OutRVA-approved community events per year
