The James River

The James River is our region’s crown jewel where outdoor enthusiasts rejoice and can hop to Texas Beach for a swim.  If you’re looking to stay a little more dry, grab a blanket and hop a rock at Belle Isle. Walk the trails and read through the history of one of Richmond’s first industrial centers.  Also, find your way to Forest Hill and take your basket to Pony Pasture. Patrick Henry Park

We’re addicted to pastry and thankfully Church Hill is Richmond’s Capital of Confectionary (thanks Real Richmond Food Tours).  Proper Pie Co. and the Dog & Pig Show are just one block from St. John’s Church where Patrick Henry gave his famous “Give me liberty or give me death” speech — give me pie please.  Benches and picnic tables across the street at Patrick Henry Park are the perfect spot to grab a quick bite. Patrick Henry Park, E.
