What’s your favorite thing to do in the Richmond Region?
My favorite thing is that you don't have to choose one. It's the diversity in possible activities that make Richmond great. I love trying out new restaurants and visiting old favorites while washing it all down with great beer at the seemingly endless list of local craft breweries. In the warm season, the river provides ample opportunity for water-related fun and there are few places that I'd rather take a walk through than Maymont Park's stunning Japanese garden. I love taking in the fantastic art at the VFMA and the theater scene is pretty fantastic with both local and touring productions.
What do you do here?
For a living, I'm a front-end web developer for a local marketing agency. Outside of work you can often find me doing improv comedy at the CSz Richmond Theater, home of ComedySportz Richmond.
What’s your favorite restaurant?
That's such a tough one because Richmond has such great food, I can't pick just one! Don't Look Back has the best tacos I have ever eaten and Burger Bach's burgers really can't be beaten. Foo Dog for Asian cuisine. I'm a fan of Grandstaff & Stein Booksellers for awesomely themed atmosphere and amazing cocktails.
What would you tell somebody who has never been to Richmond before?
Be prepared for great food and great beer, and be sure to set aside a little time to just wander around enjoying all the great street art. Despite its relatively small size, Richmond has a lot to offer. It's got the big city excitement without the overwhelming traffic and crowds.
How do you spend your free time?
What free time? But seriously, if I have time that is free, I like to stroll along the canal walk or stop into the unique shops in Carytown. A stop at the VMFA is a good way to "waste time" too!
What's your favorite neighborhood?
I'd probably have to say Carytown. It's just got a very cool, eclectic vibe to it. Several excellent restaurants, neat shops, usually a street performer or two, and walking distance to the VMFA. While there are many great areas in Richmond, I think Carytown is my favorite because there's such a wide range of experiences right there.
How do you describe your community?
Eclectic and artistic.
