Why do you love Richmond?
I love RVA for many reasons: the history of the city and preservation used to be at the top of my list but recently my experiences and current events unfolding have swayed my opinion. The gay club scene is great in RVA; not many opinions for lesbians, only Babes ... but a few great gay clubs such as Godfreys and Barcode.
Richmonders over all are very openminded and accepting of all kinds. Its a diverse city. No one looks at you weird if you walk down street holding hands, etc. Great city rooted in history and its love of the James River. The further you get outta the city the less open people are when it comes to same sex.
What’s your favorite thing to do in Richmond?
My favorite thing to do in RVA is kayak the James River and relax while soaking in the rays and enjoying a great view of the city skyline. Secondly, the night life. I love to go Godfrey's drag shows and Babes for dancing on Saturday nights and at 2 a.m. when we close it down we hit up an VIP after hours club.
What do you do here?
I work at a middle school in Chesterfield, south of RVA, in the special education department.
What’s your favorite restaurant?
Bottom's Up Pizza in Shockoe Slip.
What would you tell somebody who has never been to Richmond before?
There are tons of things to do. I'm never bored. There is a lot of history and art.
What's your favorite store?
Carytown is great; I have many favorites.
How do you spend your free time?
I like to walk about the city, hike the trails along the river, go to the art museum, etc.
What's your favorite neighborhood?
Shockoe Slip, downtown, and the Manchester district.
How do you describe your community?
Accepting.
Anything else you would like to add?
