Why do love Richmond?

Richmond is peaceful and accessible with a wonderful, eclectic culture. I lived in San Francisco for a dozen years, and our city I think is much more open and welcoming.

What's your favorite thing to do Richmond?

Just about anything outdoors. There is usually more going on than anyone can do on a given weekend.

What do you do here?

I opened O'Virginia in Carytown almost two years ago and that keeps me pretty busy, but I am also currently president of the Greater Richmond Tourism Association.

What's your favorite restaurant?

Tough choice! I call the Northside Grill by second kitchen, that would be followed by the American Bistro and the Hill Cafe. 

What would you tell somebody who has never been to Richmond before?

You will be amazed and fall in love with the city, between our green spaces, outdoor mentality, museums, warm and friendly people and history. It's overwhelming to think that what has happened over the centuries and throughout Richmond maintains an air of being as open and welcoming city as I have ever lived. Yes, there are some dark chapters in our past but look at who and what we have produced that has impacted the country, not to mention the world.

What's your favorite store?

Mine of course, but 707 Tailors on Broad [Street] is an amazing place for some self-indulgence and wardrobe maintenance!

How do you spend your free time?

I have a new puppy so lately it has been a lot of walks.

What's your favorite neighborhood?

Northside (Bellevue/Ginter Park). I lived there 15 years ago and when I moved back, there was no doubt where I wanted to live.

How do you describe your community?

Wow, "my community" is diverse and extended; young and old; a lot of the people are friends I have had in the area for more years than I am willing to admit. Many of my closest friends live in other parts of the country and they often come to RVA for visits.
